Leadership appointment at Tirlán
Tirlán announced today that James McCarthy has been appointed as Chief Investments and Strategy Officer and will join the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), succeeding Frank Tobin who retires this month.

In this key leadership role, James will be responsible for the development and execution of Tirlán’s Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) strategy, as well as leading key strategic investment initiatives.
James joined Tirlán earlier this year as Head of Corporate Development, having worked in EY since 2013 where he was a Strategy & Transactions Partner. During his tenure, James worked across multiple sectors including Healthcare, Life Sciences, Pharma, Energy, and Agri-food, building deep expertise in strategy development and M&A.
Originally from Cork, James completed his BSc Accounting degree in UCC before joining KPMG where he completed his Chartered Accountancy qualification while working across Audit, Tax and Corporate Finance. James also worked as Financial Controller in Avery Dennison before his move to EY.
