Tirlán has announced its grain pricing for Harvest 2026, confirming a headline price of €220 per tonne for green feed barley and €230 per tonne for green feed wheat, including the Trading Bonus.

In addition to base prices, Tirlán will continue to reward growers through a range of premiums for quality and value-added grains, including Malting Barley, Gluten-Free Oats, Winter Cassia Barley and HEAR (High Erucic Acid Rapeseed).

Tirlán will pay growers €2.0m in additional bonuses for premium grains for Harvest 2026, with over 42% of the Tirlán harvest intake qualifying for a premium payment.

Commitment to Irish grain growers

Ger O'Brien, Chairperson of Tirlán, commented: "While overall grain intake at 190,000 tonnes was significantly lower than last year's exceptional harvest, our tillage farmers have once again demonstrated remarkable resilience by producing high-quality crops in a challenging environment. Against a backdrop of input cost pressures and global market volatility, the grain they produce remains a vital ingredient in Ireland's food and feed supply chain."

“Tirlán remains committed to supporting our grain growers through competitive pricing, premium crop opportunities and the development of sustainable markets that deliver long-term value. As Ireland's largest purchaser of native grain, we recognise the critical role tillage farmers play in supporting the wider agricultural sector."

Tirlán continues to utilise home-grown grain throughout its GAIN Animal Nutrition range and encourages livestock farmers to support the domestic tillage sector by choosing feed products manufactured using Irish grain.

Ger O'Brien added: "There is a strong connection between the Irish livestock and tillage sectors. By supporting feed manufacturers that source Irish grain, livestock farmers can help strengthen the sustainability, security and traceability of domestic food production while supporting fellow farm families."

Trading Bonus Scheme

Tirlán's Trading Bonus Scheme remains in place for harvest 2026, providing growers with up to €10 per tonne on all eligible grain supplied, subject to qualifying criteria.

Ger O'Brien said: "The Trading Bonus Scheme reflects our continued commitment to rewarding loyalty and encouraging strong engagement by farmers with the co-operative.”

Premium crops and market development

Tirlán's grain strategy continues to focus on growing higher-value and specialist grain markets that provide enhanced returns for growers. Ailish Byrne, Chief Agribusiness Officer said: "Premium grains are a key component of our strategy as we work to maximise value for growers. Demand for high-quality, traceable Irish grain continues to create opportunities across a range of specialist crop categories, and we are committed to expanding those markets.

“Working closely with growers, our Grain Advisory Group and industry stakeholders helps us identify opportunities to improve farm profitability while meeting evolving customer requirements.”

Harvest 2027 Trading Bonus Scheme

Tirlán is providing growers with advance notice of its Harvest 2027 Trading Bonus Scheme, giving growers early visibility of the qualifying criteria and the opportunity to maximise the value available from their grain crop.

The revised structure rewards customer loyalty and engagement across Tirlán's fertiliser and crop input businesses. The revised scheme increases the maximum Trading Bonus by 25%, from €10 per tonne to €12.50 per tonne, and offers growers the opportunity to earn the enhanced bonus through qualifying purchases across fertiliser and other tillage inputs.

Michael Ryan, Head of Grain at Tirlán, said: “The revised Trading Bonus Scheme rewards grower loyalty, provides greater transparency and gives growers early visibility of the actions they can take to maximise the value available from their grain. By increasing the maximum Trading Bonus by 25% and strengthening the link between grain supply and crop input purchases, we are building longer-term partnerships that support the sustainability and competitiveness of Irish tillage farming.”
