Tirlán is proud to confirm the Tirlán Mountain Challenge 2025, a one-day charity hike, takes place on Lugnaquilla, in support of Aware, the national mental health organisation.

This year’s challenge will see over  80 Tirlán employees and farmer suppliers ascend Lugnaquilla Mountain in Co. Wicklow on 20th June, 2025 – Ireland’s highest peak outside of Kerry at 925 metres. The team aims to raise €25,000 funds from the single day challenge to support Aware’s vital work and its support line at Freephone – 1800 804 848.

Dr. Lisa Koep, Chief Environmental, Social and Governance Officer at Tirlán and a participant in the challenge, said: “As we climb Lugnaquilla, we’ll be thinking of those who face personal mountains every day. Their strength inspires us, and we’re proud to support our charity partner Aware in their mission to provide assistance.”

The Tirlán Mountain Challenge is a long-running key fundraising event and a key part of the co-op’s commitment to give back to its communities. In 2024, the Mountain Challenge raised €40,000 from a two day climb in Connemara.

James Brennan, organiser for the Tirlán Mountain Challenge, added: “Our team has been training hard and is ready to take on Lugnaquilla. We’re grateful for the support we’ve received so far and encourage everyone in the Tirlán community to help us reach our fundraising goal.”

Stephen Butterly, CEO at Aware, commented: “Support from organisations like Tirlán not only funds our services but also helps break the stigma around mental health. These efforts start conversations and make a real difference.”
